Portfolio Content Standards
Version 2
Prism - in effect from 13 September 2026
Prism is a photography portfolio service, not an adult-content or shock-content platform. These standards apply to photographs, titles, captions, biographies, profile links and other material you upload or publish, including private and link-only content.
Artistic nudity
Non-sexual artistic nudity involving adults is permitted when appropriately labelled. Pornography, sexually explicit material, sexualised depictions of children, and non-consensual intimate imagery are prohibited. Describing material as "art" does not override these restrictions.
If a photograph contains artistic nudity, mark it Contains artistic nudity in your portfolio. Visitors then see a short notice in its place and choose whether to reveal it.
That label is a courtesy to the person looking, and nothing more. It is not an age check, it does not verify who is viewing, and applying it does not make otherwise prohibited material acceptable.
What you must not upload, publish or link to
- Pornographic or sexually explicit material, including explicit sexual acts or sexualised close-ups of genitalia. See Artistic nudity above for what is permitted.
- Material depicting, promoting or facilitating child sexual abuse or exploitation, including sexualised depictions of anyone under 18.
- Intimate images shared without the depicted person's consent, including manipulated or AI-generated intimate images.
- Content promoting terrorism, violence, sexual exploitation or other criminal activity.
- Threats, targeted harassment, hateful abuse, or incitement to hatred or violence.
- Graphic depictions of serious injury, death, torture or cruelty presented to shock viewers or glorify suffering.
- Material that infringes copyright, privacy or other legal rights, or unlawfully discloses personal information.
- Scams, impersonation, malicious links or harmful software.
You must have the rights and any legally required permissions to upload and publish your material. For a photograph of an identifiable person, that includes their permission where one is needed.
What we do if these standards are breached
Where we reasonably believe these standards have been breached, we may restrict access to affected content or suspend the portfolio while we investigate. Serious or repeated breaches may result in removal of content or termination of portfolio access. We may act immediately where necessary to protect people, comply with legal obligations or prevent further harm.
Where lawful and practicable, we will explain the reason and provide a way to request a review. We apply these standards reasonably and consistently.
Suspending a portfolio hides it from the public. It does not delete anything: your photographs, collections and arrangement are all kept, you can still sign in, and you can still edit your portfolio to put right whatever caused the suspension. Only an administrator can make it public again.
How to report something
Every published portfolio has a Report this portfolio link in its footer. You do not need an account to use it. Tell us which portfolio and what the problem is, and it reaches the same place as everything else reported to Prism.
Please do not attach or upload the material you are reporting. If you believe content is illegal, report it to the police as well as to us.
If your own portfolio has been suspended and you think that was wrong, use the same form, or reply to the message you were sent, and ask for a review.
What we do not do
We do not check photographs before they are published. Nobody at Prism reviews your work on upload, and no automatic system scans it. These standards describe what is and is not allowed, and what happens when we are told about a problem.
Your privacy
How we handle your personal information is described in the Privacy Policy.
These standards are written in plain English and are not legal advice.
